Chennai, May 18 (Inditop.com) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will invest around Rs.14,800 crore this year and an identical sum next year to build infrastructure, said a top company official Tuesday.
“One third of the sum will be spent on mobile phone services infrastructure,” Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal told reporters here after launching a ‘Live Portal’ for the company’s mobile phone service subscribers in the South Zone.
The portal would enable BSNL mobile phone users to watch television programmes, download music and play games.
According to Goyal, the company has around 1.2 million subscribers for its 3G mobile phone service which was launched last February.
“The 3G service will be expanded to 750 cities by the end of this year from the current 428 cities,” he said.
He said the company is expected to close last fiscal with a revenue of around Rs.35,800 crore with mobile phone services accounting for around Rs.10,000 crore.
