New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) Danish brewer Carlsberg Wednesday said it has opened its fifth brewery with an investment of Rs.128 crore in Medak in Andhra Pradesh’s Telangana region.
The state-of-the-art brewery has the potential to become the largest brewery of the company in the country, it claimed.
‘This introductory venture into south India reaffirms Carlsberg’s commitment to India and will be the export centre for the entire southern market along with the markets in the state of Orissa and Chhattisgarh,’ the company said in a statement.
Carlsberg, one of the largest global beer brands, invested in the greenfield brewery, which has an installed start-up capacity of 425,000 hecto litre and expects to employ more than 200 people.
‘The vision of Carlsberg in India is to become a leading player in the market, by offering premium international quality brands to the Indian consumers,’ said Soren Lauridsen, managing director, Carlsberg India.
Carlsberg said it had procured all key utilities like boiler, waste water treatment plan, water treatment plant from India and all brands of Carlsberg India’s portfolio such as Carlsberg, Tuborg Green, Tuborg Strong and Palone will be brewed in the facility.
