New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Young Indians (Yi), a part of industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will launch its 25th chapter at Bhopal Sep 11 on the completion of 10 years of its existence, CII said Sunday.
Yi is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organisation playing a proactive role in India’s development process. It was formed in 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realise the dream of a developed nation.
Its work can be divided primarily into two groups – youth leadership and youth social entrepreneurship.
It works for promoting leadership skills for the development of its members through the learning programs; the development and engagement of students in schools and colleges through its students’ net platform and a farmers’ net platform, providing them with real time agricultural inputs and know-how.
Yi has also conducted campaigns and developed successful projects across the focus areas of primary education, environment, primary healthcare and employability, contributing positively to its surrounding eco-system and the nation.
It has around 1,200 direct members in 24 city chapters, 300 members through its corporate chapters, 5,900 students through student nets and 11,000 young farmers through the farmer nets.
Its membership includes young Indians between the age group of 25 and 40 and comprises entrepreneurs, professionals and achievers from different walks of life.
“The launch of the Bhopal chapter will be a significant landmark in the history of Yi, as in a span of 10 years, the organisation has established chapters in all major cities of India. Bhopal will be the second chapter after Indore in the state,” CII said in a statement.
