Mumbai, Oct 2 (IANS) Projecting company secretaries as leaders of good corporate governance, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will explore options for them to play the role of whistleblowers, an official said.
ICSI will discuss this, amongst other subjects, at the 40th National Convention of Company Secretaries.
The three-day event will begin Thursday at Aamby Valley near Pune.
According to an ICSI official, the session titled ‘Company Secretary: Whistleblower or Conscience-keeper’ will dwell on malpractices, misconducts, corruption and mismanagement.
Announcing the convention’s agenda, B. Narasimhan, chairman of the organising committee, said the company secretaries would also deliberate on economic volatility, risk management, financial markets and small and medium enterprises.
“As many as 1,200 delegates, including company secretaries, chief executive officers, directors, senior executives from India and abroad, are expected to participate,” said Mahavir Lunawat, chairman of ICSI’s Western India Regional Council, which is hosting the event.
