Chandigarh, Sep 30 (Inditop.com) Haryana’s ruling Congress seems to be selling foreign dreams to farmers in the state in their election manifesto released Wednesday, offering them help in buying land in any part of the world if their land is acquired to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
“Farmers whose land will be acquired by us will get all help from our officials to buy land not only in other states of India but also in other countries of their choice,” Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here.
“We would provide them all the knowledge, legal help and backing in taking bank loans,” he added.
In the last few years, many acres of land have been acquired by the state government for developing SEZs and for facilitating other developmental projects in Haryana.
However, most of these SEZ projects have not yet come up.
“The economic meltdown was the main hindrance for these SEZs. But we will follow the same SEZ policies and things will certainly improve,” Hooda said.
The price fixed by the state for acquiring land is Rs.2.2 million (Rs.22 lakh) per acre and there are additional benefits for land-holders like a fixed annual income for the next 33 years after acquisition.
