Chennai, Aug 18 (IANS) A decision on reinstating 35 dismissed workers of Hyundai Motor India was further postponed to Aug 26 Wednesday as one of the labour commission official did not turn up.
‘Today only one official from the labour commissioner’s office came for the meeting. The other official from Coimbatore didn’t turn up as he was indisposed. The matter has been postponed to Aug 26,’ Hyundai Motor India Employees Union (HMIEU) President Edison Periera told IANS.
The officials had asked time till Aug 18 to study the submissions by the HMIEU and the management and arrive at a conclusion.
The management and HMIEU had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in June in the presence of Labour Minister T.M. Anbarasan.
As per the MoU, a six-member review committee with two representatives from the union, company management and labour commissioner office was constituted to consider the reinstatement of 35 dismissed employees on a case-by-case basis. The remaining 32 dismissed workers have to seek legal recourse.
