New Delhi, Jan 18 (Inditop.com) A shallow fog enveloped the national capital Monday morning, disrupting rail services. However flight operations remained unaffected, said an airport official.

According to a Northern Railway spokesperson, at least 24 trains were cancelled and 18 were running behind schedule because of the fog.

“Trains like the Amritsar-Katihar Express, Jhansi-Lucknow Express and 22 others were cancelled because of the poor visibility. In addition to these, there were 18 trains delayed by at least three hours,” the spokesperson told Inditop.

Four trains were also rescheduled because of the fog. Among them were the Northeast Express and the Taj Express.

But operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport remained normal.

“There was shallow fog in the morning, but it did not pose any problem in the flight operations since runway visibility remained over 1,500 metres for the main runway while it was over 1,200 metres for the new runway,” an airport official said.

However, flights to Srinagar, Amritsar and Chandigarh were delayed due to fog in those cities.
