New Delhi, April 22 (Inditop) The government is not sitting idle over the issue of retrieving over Rs.73 trillion of Indian black money stashed in various foreign banks, the Supreme Court was told Wednesday.

Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam made this assertion before a bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan during the hearing of a law suit seeking direction to the government to make efforts on the lines of the US to retrieve its black money from foreign banks.

Subramaniam also offered to file an affidavit apprising the court of various steps taken by the government to retrieve the money. The matter has been posted for the next hearing May 4.
