Bangalore, June 30 (IANS) Yellow Pages pioneer GETIT Infoservices Ltd. Thursday unveiled its Freeads service on voice calls and SMS for mobile users as part of its growth plans in Karnataka.

‘We are targeting about 20,000 small and medium enterprise advertisers by offering Freeads on voice calls and SMS to mobile users and foraying into WAP (wireless application protocol) service,’ GETIT founder-chairman Ramesh Gupta told reporters at a preview of the services here.

The company’s database has listings of about 500,000 enterprises and utilities across the state.

‘We plan to launch more mobile applications for information services and will explore alliances with media firms to increase our business by 100 percent and revenue by 65 percent this fiscal 2011-12, Gupta said.

For a population of over 60 million, Karnataka has about 50 million mobile subscribers with tele-density of 821 users for 1,000 people till March 2011.

‘Our integrated digital services will help mobile users across the state to access a host of information and help enterprises to grow their business by getting new customers,’ Gupta said.

The company will offer WAP service through its dedicated sites m.getit.in and m.freeads.in.

‘With the advent of 3G services, search is set to shift to mobile devices in a big way, enabling us to offer a slew of applications on smart phones and low-end handsets so that our customers can search for any information or classifieds,’ Gupta noted.

Touted to be first of kind in the country, the free classifieds service will enable consumers access information on mobile phones and online (internet) to buy or sell new or used products with best response from users by dialling 4444-4444.

‘The service is simple to use, quick with results and free of cost. Consumers can place free ads in various categories such as household goods, jobs, vehicles, properties, education/tuition, business/service, computers/mobile phones, healthcare/holiday and personal, making buying and selling easy and effective,’ Gupta added.

The SMS application will provide local search capabilities across the country for even those users who do not have smart phones. The SMS-based mobile browser, developed by Shorthand Mobile, delivers seamless access to an array of info-services.
