New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) Automobile major Hyundai Motor India Monday reported a decline of 4.7 percent in its total sales in March, which stood at 56,437 units as compared to 59,229 units sold in corresponding month of 2012.

“The slowdown of economy is impacting vehicle sales. Against large base of last year there was a sharp drop in conversion of enquiries in the absence of any positive stimulus and sentiments,” said Rakesh Srivastava, vice president (sales and marketing), Hyundai Motor India.
“We foresee the pressure on volumes to continue till there is significant improvement in macro-economic factors,” he added.
According to the company, its domestic sales plummeted by 13.5 percent, and stood at 33,858 units from 39,122 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.
However, the car manufacturer reported a healthy growth of 12.3 percent in its exports for the last month which stood at 22,579 unitsm, up from 20,107 units shipped out in March 2012.
Segment-wise sales: A2 segment including brands like Santro, Eon and i10 sold 47,678 units; A3 sedan segment including Accent and Verna sold 8,143 units; A4 luxury sedan segment including Elantra sold 546 units; A5 segment of super luxury sedan sold 20 units; and sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe sold 50 units.
