New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) Automobile major Hyundai Motor India Ltd Friday reported a marginal increase of one percent in its sales for the month of March, which stood at 55,552 units as against 55,027 units in the like period of 2010.
‘HMIL’s total sales for March 2011 stood at 55,552 units as against 55,027 units in March 2010, registering a growth of one percent,’ the company said in a statement.
The domestic sales of the company also grew by one percent in March at 31,822 units as against 31,501 units in March, 2010, while the exports grew by 0.9 percent and stood at 23,730 units as compared to 23,526 units in the corresponding period of last year, the statement said.
The company said the sales in March were damp due to rising input costs and increasing interest rates on car loans.
‘With rising interest rates and increasing prices due to higher input costs, the market is less buoyant than what it was last year,’ said Arvind Saxena, director-marketing and sales, HMIL.
Segment-wise, the automobile major’s sales were led by its best-selling compact cars like Santro, i10, and i20 at 50,488 units, followed by the sedan section which includes Accent and Verna at 4,920 units; and luxury sedan Sonata Transform at 23 units.
The company, which also launched a sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe this fiscal, reported a sale of 121 units in March.
