New Delhi, May 3 (Inditop.com) Mobile services provider Idea Cellular Monday said its net profit for the January-March quarter of the 2009-10 financial year slipped to Rs.262.49 crore from Rs.297.27 crore in the same period a year ago.
Its total income, however, rose to Rs.3,274.21 crore from Rs.2,794.67 crore in the year-ago period.
The company registered a net profit of Rs.1,053.66 crore in 2009-10 compared to Rs.1,001.21 crore in the previous fiscal. The total income stood at Rs.11,962.08 crore against Rs.9,878.66 crore in 2008-09, it said in a statement.
The company said: “The figures for the current period are not comparable with that of the previous period due to the merger of telecom business of Aditya Birla Telecom Ltd (ABTL) and Spice.”
The company’s consolidated profit after tax was Rs.266.61 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010, as compared to Rs.254.96 crore for the same quarter the previous year.
The group’s total income rose from Rs.2,942.46 crore for the fourth quarter of 2008-09 to Rs.3,399.74 crore in the same period of 2009-10.
The group reported a net profit of Rs.953.94 crore in 2009-10 as against Rs.881.58 crore in 2008-09. Its total income went up to Rs.12,530.71 crore in 2009-10 from Rs.10,154.38 crore in 2008-09.
