New Delhi, Aug 11 (Inditop.com) India added 9.47 million GSM subscribers in July, taking the total tally to 325.7 million, official data released Tuesday said.

The subscriber addition in July is higher than June’s 8.89 million, but still lower than 10.8 million recorded in March, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the apex organisation of GSM operators, said in a statement.

The figures, however, do not include Reliance Communication’s GSM subscribers, COAI said.

Bharti Airtel, the country’s largest telecom operator added 2.8 million subscribers, taking its tally to 105.18 million.

While Vodafone added 2.2 million new subscribers, Idea Cellular added 1.42 million, COAI said.

State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 1.62 million new customers, taking the total tally to 5 million while Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) added 35,413 new subscribers.

Bharti Airtel continues to be the top GSM operator in the country, with a market share of 32.29 percent followed by Vodafone Essar with 24.1 percent, BSNL 15.57 percent and Idea 14.9 percent.
