Gurgaon, Jan 30 (IANS) Information technology (IT) can make healthcare accessible and affordable to more people in the country, industry lobby the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said here Monday.

‘IT can provide access to healthcare facilities. Also, it can have a positive impact on affordability and effectiveness of healthcare in India,’ Som Mittal, president of the IT-BPO sector apex body, said at the ‘Health 2.0’ conference here.

Experts from the healthcare sector have come together here for the first conference that emphasises on innovation and IT in health services.

In the country’s 12th Five Year Plan (2012-2017), the Planning Commission is likely to increase the spending on healthcare to increase its affordability and accessibility.
