Chandigarh, July 21 (Inditop.com) Israel will set up two “centres of excellence” in Haryana on an outlay of Rs.15.7 crore to help farmers increase production of fruits and vegetables, the country’s ambassador to India Mark Sofer said here Tuesday.

Once the centres are operational, farmers will be introduced to the latest mechanised farming techniques developed in Israel.

Sofer announced setting up of the two centres at a meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here.

He said the centre of excellence for fruits would be set up at Mangiana in Sirsa district, about 300 km from here, at a cost of Rs.9.7 crore.

The centre of excellence for vegetables will come up at Gharounda in Karnal district, 150 km from here, and will cost Rs.6 crore.

Both projects have been approved by the central government.
