Jaipur, Nov 1 (IANS) Construction equipment group JCB’s chairman Anthony Bamford Thursday met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for discussions on setting up a Rs.500 crore project in Mahindra SEZ here.
JCB is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction equipment and had signed a land purchase agreement with the state government Oct 23, for the manufacturing facility to come up on a 70 acre site in Jaipur. Construction is expected to start early next year and the facility is slated to be operational by end of 2013.
“India has been an extremely crucial market for JCB and we have made huge investments in setting up our manufacturing base at strategic locations in the country. This will be JCB’s fourth manufacturing footprint in India. With the pro-business approach of the state government, Rajasthan is a preferred location for business as it offers a big basket of opportunities to industries across sectors” said Bamford.
Speaking on the occasion, Gehlot said: “We welcome JCB’s decision to invest in Rajasthan. We are confident that such initiatives will strengthen the manufacturing sector in the state and enhance growth. We will continue to support JCB in strengthening its business in Rajasthan. We wish JCB even greater success here in Rajasthan.”
This will be JCB’s fourth factory in India. The other three factories are one in Ballabgarh (Haryana) and two in Pune.
