Mumbai, Oct 8 (Inditop.com) Wolfgang Prock-Schauer has resigned as the chief executive of Jet Airways, effective Oct 15, the company said Thursday.
Schauer, who joined Jet in 2003 will join British Midland PLC (bmi) as its CEO.
Nikos Kardasis, who was Jet’s chief executive during 1994-99, will take over as the acting CEO of the airline soon after Schauer leaves, Jet said in a regulatory statement.
Currently, the airline is going through losses due to higher operational costs and economic slowdown wordwide.
It had recently secured its shareholders’ approval to raise up to $400 million (Rs.1,917 crore) to meet its working capital requirements.
The airline had suffered a net loss of Rs.225 crore for the quarter ended June 30 this year on a total income of Rs.2,428 crore.
Besides, a five-day strike by Jet pilots last month also led to a loss of over Rs.200 crore.
