Ranchi, Dec 30 (IANS) Jharkhand stands fifth from the bottom in implementation of MoUs signed with investors in different sectors, says a survey by Assocham.

‘Jharkhand stands fifth from the bottom in implementing the MoUs signed with investors while it stands in the top five in signing MoU with investors. The implementation of MoU by the Jharkhand government is very poor,’ Assocham secretary general D.S. Rawat told reporters here Thursday.

A team of Assocham comprising Rawat and Assocham President Ravi Wig was in Ranchi for two days. They met Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda and presented the report about ‘Cluster Development in Jharkhand for Inclusive Growth’.

Addressing a press conference Rawant said: ‘We surveyed 20 states of India about MoU signed and how they are implemented in the state. Our survey found that Jharkhand was far ahead in signing MoU but it was far behind in implementing them’.

He said: ‘We are going to organize ‘Jharkhand calling’ summit next year in the state and we hope that the state will be able to sign additional MoUs in different sectors’.

Rawat said: ‘We suggested to the chief minister to formulate new industrial policies as at present Jharkhand is following old policies. We also suggested formulation of agriculture policies to promote organic farming. Jharkhand’s share in organic farming is zero.’

Assocham also suggested acquiring barren lands to develop land banks in the state, which could be used for developing clusters.
