New Delhi, May 17 (Inditop.com) Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will represent India at a global business forum in Malaysia beginning Tuesday that aims to create economic bridges between the Muslim and non-Muslim world.
The sixth World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), being held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, is being organised by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has chosen Khurshid, who also holds the corporate affairs portfolio, to represent India at the three-day forum. India is home to 16 million Muslims, the third largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia and Pakistan.
The theme of the conclave is ‘Gearing for Economic Resurgence’. It will be an attempt to encapsulate the prevailing spirit in the Muslim world for economic revival, the spokesperson said.
The event will bring together world leaders in government and business as well as emerging entrepreneurs and promising members of the small and medium enterprise community from various parts of the globe.
Their main objective will be to explore business opportunities in the emerging markets of the Muslim world.
The event is to be inaugurated by Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
Khurshid will address the signature session of the event Wednesday.
