New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) Five of the six states through which the proposed $100 billion Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) would pass, have started the process of land acquisition, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said Wednesday.
Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have started the land acquisition process for the project.
However, Uttar Pradesh has yet to start the process, Scindia said in his written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project aims to create new industrial cities with manufacturing as the key economic driver.
“Preparation of the perspective plan for the overall DMIC region is complete,” the minister said.
The union cabinet last year approved financial and institutional structure for development of industrial cities along the proposed corridor.
