New Delhi, April 1 (Inditop.com) India’s leading engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and UK-based power systems company Rolls-Royce have entered into an agreement to explore opportunities in the nuclear business.
The companies will cooperate in addressing the projected need for light water reactors (LWR) in India and overseas, L&T said in a statement Thursday.
The LWR technology is used in over 60 percent of civil nuclear power plants operating worldwide.
The two companies will also collaborate on areas, including nuclear instrumentation and controls, engineered products and services, reactor components and waste management.
The deal follows the recent civil nuclear cooperation agreement between India and the United Kingdom which enables industries in the two countries to engage in civil nuclear commerce, the statement added.
