Mumbai, June 24 (IANS) The Lufthansa Group of airlines will offer 78 weekly flights from seven Indian destinations providing better European connectivity to travellers starting Oct 29, an official said.
With a significant improvement in its Indian network capacity in its winter schedule that starts Oct 29, the Lufthansa Passenger Airline Group will consolidate its position as the leading European connectivity provider for Indian travellers.
The Lufthansa group, comprising Swiss, Austrian and Lufthansa, will offer more flights to Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Vienna, the official said.
Lufthansa will increase its flights on the Pune-Frankfurt route from the current three to four times a week.
It will also deploy a larger Airbus A-340-600 on the Chennai-Frankfurt sector, which has 80 more seats than the A-340-300 currently being used.
Swiss will serve both its Indian routes, New Delhi-Zurich and Mumbai-Zurich with daily flights, up from six flights per week on Delhi sector and five per week on the Mumbai sector currently.
Austrian will offer five weekly flights connecting Mumbai-Vienna, besides the massive eastern and central European network of the airline.
‘By improving connectivity from India’s key gateways to four European hubs, our airline group supports the Indian travellers’ growing needs for international mobility,’ said Lufthansa’s South Asia director Axel Hilgers.
Lufthansa is presently modernising its existing fleet with 13 billion euros worth of new aircraft on order which are both quieter and highly fuel efficient.
In addition, Lufthansa is introducing the Internet service, Flynet, on its international route network, the official said.
