Bhopal, Feb 22 (Inditop.com) The Madhya Pradesh government plans to build over 3,000 km of roads and 25 bridges in the 2010-11 financial year.
The government has set a target to lay 3,316 km of roads and construct 25 bridges in the next fiscal starting April 1, 2010, Governor Rameshwar Thakur Monday said in his address to the state assembly on the opening day of the 33-day budget session.
Power generation capacity will also be improved, he said. adding that by 2013, more than 5,000 MW additional power would be generated. Private companies too have begun working on electricity projects that are expected to generate 6,500 MW power, he said.
Thakur said the government has set a target for proper development of road network, enhancement of power generation, and uplift of the Scheduled Castes/Tribes (SC/STs) and the backward classes.
“My government has started various developmental projects in the field of agriculture, power and infrastructure,” he said, adding that the government was laying full emphasis on infrastructure, turning agriculture into a profitable business, more investment and empowering women.
