Kolkata, Aug 31 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh government has acquired land in Indore for a proposed diamond park and the detailed project report is ready, an official said here Tuesday.
Anil Kumar Jain, managing director, M.P. State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd, said the state plans to develop the park for industries based on diamond cutting.
‘We have appointed a consultant who has prepared the project report. The concept has to be marketed,’ Jain told reporters on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce.
The state government has already acquired 283 acres in Indore for the project for around Rs.150 crore. The project report was done by an Indore-based consultant.
‘It’s a commercial project. We want to develop diamond related industry. Somebody has to come forward, who is willing to invest Rs.500-600 crore in the project,’ he said.
According to earlier reports, Satya Prakash, additional chief secretary, government of Madhya Pradesh, said that London-based mining major Rio Tinto is planning to invest Rs.370-400 crore in the diamond mines of Madhya Pradesh over the next three years.
