New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Electric vehicle manufacturer Mahindra Reva Wednesday said it has entered into a strategic partnership with online cab rental solutions provider Carzonrent.
According to the company, the partnership will allow deployment of its electric vehicle e2o for self-drive rental category in India for the first time.
“As a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra Reva is committed to developing not just electric vehicles, but also an entire ecosystem of sustainable mobility service,” said Chetan Maini, chief executive officer, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles.
“Hence, this association will allow customers to use the e2o for a few hours or days and get an insight into this new and exciting next generation hassle free mobility solution.”
The electric vehicle will be offered in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai at Rs.100 per hour which can be extended to Rs.800 for 24 hours from Oct 1, 2013. The company will deploy five cars each per city.
“At one-third the cost compared to other self-drive cars, the e2o will be a game changer in the self-drive business model,” said Rajiv Kumar Vij, managing director and chief executive, Carzonrent.
Vij added that the company plans to enhance the availability of Mahindra e2o to expand in multiple locations across the cities.
The tie-up will also enhances the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India with over 100 charge points at prime locations in key cities.
The company further said that the charging points will be availed free of cost by the customers for Carzonrent’s Mahindra e2o self drive services.
Mahindra Reva had unveiled its next generation all-electric e2o a few months ago. Till now the company has managed to sell a few hundred units of the vehicle.
The car is equipped with a fully automatic transmission with Boost Mode for quick acceleration and a range of 100 km, making it ideal for city driving.
