Ranchi, Feb 24 (Inditop.com) The main political parties in Jharkhand Wednesday said Mamata Banerjee’s railway budget was disappointing as it was too biased towards West Bengal.
“We appreciate Mamata Banerjee for not hiking passenger fares but she should have gifted more new trains to the state. The connectivity of Ranchi with southern Indian states is very poor. We were hoping to get new trains for Pune and Bangalore and other parts of the country,” Shailesh Sinha, Jharkhand Congress general secretary, told Inditop.
The minister in her budget speech in the Lok Sabha announced two trains for Jharkhand, Hatia-Tatanagar and Ranchi-Jainagar.
Echoing the sentiments, Ramesh Puskar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, said: “Mamata’s budget seems to be influenced by upcoming West Bengal and Bihar assembly elections.”
Saibal Dutta, a resident of Ranchi, said: “Jharkhand has always been neglected by successive railway ministers despite the fact that Dhanbad railway division is one of highest revenue earning divisions in the country.
“Mamata Banerjee has again disappointed us. We demand better connectivity of Ranchi with other parts of the country,” he said.
