New Delhi, August 1 (IANS) Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported a 1.3 percent rise in its July sales at 83,299 units from 82,234 units sold in last year’s corresponding period.
There was a sharp drop in exports. The company exported 8,154 units in July, a 27.3 percent drop from 11,210 units shipped overseas during the corresponding month of last year.
Domestic sales were up 5.8 percent to 75,145 units during the month under review from 71,024 units sold in July 2012.
Mini-car segment that includes M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR grew 15.8 percent at 33,587 units from 28,998 units sold in the same month of 2012.
Sale of compact cars Swift, Estilo and Ritz declined 11.9 percent at 13,882 units from 15,759 units sold in July 2012. Sales of super compact segment, including Dzire, jumped 33.6 percent at 15,249 units from 11,413 units sold in the corresponding month of 2012.
While there was no buyer for luxury sedan Kizashi during the month under review, sales of the mid-sized sedan SX4 plummeted 52.6 percent to 322 units from 679 units sold in July 2012.
Sale of utility vehicles like Gypsy, Grand, Vitara and Ertiga dropped 37.5 percent to 4,562 units from 7,294 units sold in the corresponding period of last year.
Van segment like Omni and Eeco grew 9.7 percent with 7,543 units from a sale of 6,879 units in July 2012.
The company’s scrip at the Bombay Stock Exchange was trading up 1.20 percent or 15.90 points 1.00 p.m. Thursday at Rs.1,343 from its previous close of Rs.1,327.10 Wednesday.
