New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) Automobile major Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported an increase of 85.5 percent in its total sales in October with 103,108 units sold as against 55,595 units sold in the same month during the previous year.
According to the company, its domestic sales increased by 86.6 percent in the month under review and stood at 96,002 units from 51,458 units sold in the like period of last year.
However, exports in the month under review grew by 71.8 percent and stood at 7,106 units from 4,137 units sold in October 2011.
Segment-wise, passenger vehicle sales increased by 93.8 percent at 79.811 units from 41,192 units sold in the same month of last year.
Sales of utility vehicles, which include brands like Gypsy, Grand Vitara and the recently launched Ertiga, sky rocketed by 2,640.7 percent at 7,400 units from 270 units sold in the corresponding period of 2011.
However, the vans segment, which includes brands like Omni and Eeco, declined by 12.1 percent at 8,791 units from 9,996 units sold in the like period of last year.
