New Delhi, May 1 (IANS) India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported an 11.4 percent decline in total sales, including exports, for April as the figure stood at 97,302 units.
The company had sold 86,196 units in April 2013.
The company’s domestic sales decreased by 12.6 percent to 79,119 units during the month under review as compared to 90,523 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.
However, Maruti Suzuki exported 7,077 units last month, which was an increase of 4.4 percent from 6,779 units sold overseas during the corresponding month of 2013.
Sales in passenger cars segment, which comprises of brands like M800, Alto, A-Star, WagonR, Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire, SX4 and Kizashi, inched lower by 14 percent at 65,786 units sold from an off-take of 76,509 units in the corresponding month of 2013.
The off-take of utility vehicles like Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga slumped by 5.8 percent at 5,011 units from sales of 5,318 units in April 2013.
Sales in van segment that includes brands like Omni and Eeco were down by 4.3 percent at 8,322 units from an off-take of 8,696 units in the corresponding month of 2013.
