New Delhi, July 13 (Inditop.com) Bowing to the request of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and other senior officials, ‘Metro Man’ E. Sreedharan Monday withdrew his resignation letter as managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Sreedharan resigned Sunday owning moral responsibility for the collapse of an underconstruction elevated section of the Metro in south Delhi that killed five people.

He decided to withdrew his resignation after receiving a letter from Chief Minister Dikshit to continue in the post.

“The DMRC chief, Dr. E Sreedharan has decided to withdraw his resignation in view of the letter received last night at 11 p.m. at his residence from the honourable Chief Minister of Delhi Shiela Dikshit,” DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal told reporters.

“And also on persuasion of Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna and Minister for Urban Development Jaipal Reddy. Dr Sreedharan has thus withdrawn his resignation,” Dayal said.
