New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) Even as the government is very upbeat about 1 billion telephone connections in India, 27.93 percent households in rural India are without any phone connections, shows the latest Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011 for rural India.
It shows that only 2.72 percent of the households have both landline and mobile phones. Households having only mobile phones stand at 68.35 percent, whereas with only landline phones are at 1 percent.
While Chandigarh recorded 91.61 percent with only mobile phones, 70.88 percent households in Chhattisgarh do not have any phone.
In Himachal Pradesh, 10.09 percent households have both landline and mobile phones.
