New Delhi, April 16 (Inditop.com) The Oriental Bank of Commerce will recruit 1,600 people, including 373 special officers, during the 2010-11 financial year, the state-run lender’s chairman and managing director T.Y. Prabhu said Friday.

The bank had recruited 1,290 personnel during the previous fiscal.

Prabhu said the bank will focus on lending to small and medium enterprises, housing, retail and agriculture sectors.

The bank’s aggregate deposits grew by 22.24 percent to Rs.120,267 crore in 2009-10 from Rs.98,378 crore a year ago, he said.

Its gross advances increased by 22.74 percent to Rs.84,506 crore from Rs.68,845 crore in 2008-09.

The bank’s total business grew by 22.45 percent to Rs.204,773 crore in 2009-10 from Rs.167,223 crore in the previous fiscal.

The bank has a network of 1,510 branches.
