New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) The government Wednesday announced a committee to examine the reasons for the backlog in filling up reserved vacancies, officials said.
The 20-member committee headed by secretary, ministry of social justice and empowerment, will suggest measures to enhance the employability of reserved category candidates.
The committee includes members from various ministries including home, Human Resources and Development (HRD) and railways, among others.
“The committee will submit its report within three months,” said an official from the HRD ministry.
According to ministry, a special recruitment drive to fill up the backlog of reserved vacancies of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes (OBCs) was launched in 2012.
“The progress of the drive was reviewed in May and it was found out of 64,175 backlog vacancies, only 48,034 were filled up,” the official said.
The analysis of data indicated that lack of interview skills, less availability of professionally qualified people and less identification of posts for differently abled people were some reasons for less employability in the reserved category.
