New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to clarify why S. Jaipal Reddy was shifted out of the petroleum ministry.

After Arvind Kejriwal of India Against Corruption alleged that Reddy was shunted at the behest of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, BJP leader Jaswant Singh questioned Reddy’s removal from the key ministry.
“Is it any malfunction in the ministry that has persuaded Manmohan Singh to effect this change? Or is it that Jaipal Reddy was not found a ‘convenient minister’ or is this another example of corporate interests taking precedence over national good?”
BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy also questioned why Reliance sought an increase in gas price after an agreement to provide natural gas at $2.2 per unit for 17 years?
“Why did the prime minister not take a decision in favour of the nation? The BJP believes the prime minister should make all facts public, and tell us if there is another loss to public exchequer,” he said.
