Chandigarh, Aug 27 (Inditop.com) To improve its road network, the Punjab government will spend Rs.325 crore this fiscal on upgrading at least 250 km of national highways passing through the state, the government said Thursday.
According to Parminder Singh Dhindsa, the state’s public works department minister, around Rs.50 crore has been spent on various highway projects so far.
“In 2008-09, the central government had approved an annual plan outlay of Rs.165.15 crore for upgrading 200 km of national highways in the state. In addition, it approved Rs.15.68 crore for repair of 70 km of the highways,” Dhindsa said.
The minister said under the Centre Road Fund (CRF) scheme, Rs.104 crore has been approved for upgrading 104 km of roads, and that Rs.74 crore had already been spent.
