New Delhi, April 29 (Inditop.com) Mobile operator S Tel, a joint venture between India’s Siva Group and Bahrain Telecommunications Co, Thursday said its subscriber base has crossed the one million mark within three months of launch of services.

The subscribers are spread across three circles of Bihar and Jharkhand, Orissa and Himachal Pradesh.

The telecom provider will roll out services in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and other parts of the northeast this year.

“We made a positive start in December 2009, becoming the fastest mobile operator to have clocked one lakh consumer base across the three circles. We are delighted to announce that we have achieved a sizeable base of one million S Tel subscribers within just 90 days of service launch,” said Shamik Das, the company’s chief executive officer.

“We are presently serving about 65 percent of the urban population and a sizeable rural population in the three circles,” added Das.
