Gurgaon, Aug 31 (IANS) After the July 18 violence at Maruti’s Manesar plant in Haryana, the workers terminated on accusations of the violence Friday met various trade unions demanding their reinstatement and a judicial probe into the episode.

The incident had left a senior executive dead and nearly 100 injured.
Trade unions of different political hues including Centre of Trade Unions, Indian National Trade Union Congress and Hind Mazdoor Sabha held a meeting here.
Nearly 400 terminated workers of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) attended the meeting.
Union leaders from Gurgaon, Udyog Vihar, Dharuhera and Bawal industrial area units extended their support to 546 terminated permanent employees and nearly 1,900 contract labours.
Kuldeep Janghu, general secretary, Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union of Maruti’s Gurgaon plant, said that injustice was done to their counterparts at the Manesar Plant.
“The culprits must not be spared, but innocent workers were targeted,” Janghu said.
State president of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Satbir Singh said that workers were fired without notice, charge and chance of clarification. A temporary committee of 14 members from the terminated Maruti workers would be constituted so that they can coordinate with the 16-member trade union leaders.
“The issue would be raised at the All Indian Convention of Trade Unions Sep 4 in New Delhi. We will fight legally and through mass struggle,” Singh said.
Union leaders alleged that police were harassing family members of workers.
Union leaders from Maruti’s Gurgaon plant, Honda, Hero Gurgaon, Hero Dharuhera, Maruti Suzuki powertrain, Suzuki motorcycles, Eastern Medicate, Sona steering, all three units of RICCO, Satyam Auto and Aircon Carrier were also present at the meeting.
They demanded a judicial inquiry led by a sitting or retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court into the July 18 incident.
