Pune, Feb 1 (IANS) Seiko Watch India Wednesday launched its exclusive collection of luxury watches Ananta, in the price range of Rs.1-5 lakh per piece.

‘Over the last few years, we have witnessed an impeccable growth potential for quality watches in India. With the launch of Ananta, we want to reinforce our commitment of providing cutting edge technology watches,’ Seiko Watch India president Susumu Kawanishi said while unveiling the collection.

The designs are inspired by Katana, the ancient art of Japanese sword making.

Katana sword is a single sided, curved blade designed to be drawn from its scabbard and used in a single motion.

Vice president of the company, Niladri Mazumder, said the spring drive mechanism used in the collection is the most important technique created by Seiko since the Quartz Astron in 1969.

‘It is based on the foundation of all mechanical watch technology, a mainspring, but uses an entirely new system for time regulation that delivers best accuracy,’ he said.

‘A totla of 28 years in the making and with 230 patents, the Seiko spring drive is the only watch in the world to represent the true motion of time,’ he added.

The company, that operates 250 stores across 61 Indian cities, plans to open 10 exclusive Seiko boutiques across the country in the next three years.
