Mumbai, Dec 31 (IANS) A benchmark index of the Indian equities market closed 93 points higher Friday.

The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,412.76 points closed at 20,482.46 points (provisional), up 93.39 points or 0.46 percent, from its previous close of 20,389.07 points.

At the National Stock Exchange 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended 0.42 percent higher at 6,127 points.

Broader markets saw relatively better gains with the BSE midcap closing 1.13 percent up and the BSE smallcap index ending 1.18 percent higher.
