Mumbai, May 6 (Inditop.com) A benchmark index for Indian equities Thursday pared some of its intra-day losses to end 0.56 percent lower in highly volatile trade.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,080.47 points, closed at 16,991.96 points (provisional), 96 points or 0.56 percent lower than its previous close at 17,137.14 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5,090.3 points, a loss of 0.68 percent from its previous close at 5,124.9 points.
Broader market indices also closed in the red with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.53 percent down and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.13 percent lower.
