Mumbai, Oct 7 (Inditop.com) A key Indian equities market index opened on a firm note Wednesday and was ruling 122 points higher than its previous close, about five minutes into trade.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened higher at 17,069.42 points and moved up to 17,080.54 points, 122 points or 0.72 percent higher than its previous close at 16,958.54 points.

The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also in the green at 5,068.4 points, up 0.82 percent from its last close.

Broader market indices too opened strong, with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.02 percent up, while the BSE small cap index was trading 0.92 percent higher.
