Mumbai, May 11 (Inditop.com) After a stupendous rise the day before, a benchmark index for Indian equities Tuesday slipped at opening bell and was ruling 0.33 percent lower than its previous close.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,336.13 points, was ruling at 17,273.18 points, 57.37 points or 0.33 percent lower than its previous close at 17,330.55 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5,179.2 points, a loss of 0.28 percent from its previous close at 5,193.6 points.

Broader market indices were also subdued, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.12 percent up and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.33 percent higher.
