Mumbai, June 30 (IANS) A key index for Indian equities Wednesday was ruling on a weak note amid negative Asian cues.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,476.85 points, was ruling at 17,497.96 points, 36.13 points or 0.21 percent down from its previous close at 17,534.09 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5,249.85 points, down 0.18 percent from its previous close at 5,256.15 points.
Broader markets indices too were in a a slump with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.25 percent lower and the BSE smallcap index 0.02 percent up.
Profit booking was seen in IT and telecom stock, while oil and gas scrips saw some buying.
