Noida, March 28 (IANS) In its sealing drive, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) sealed eight shops in four properties where commercial activities were being carried in residential buildings in violation of land use norms, officials said Wednesday.

‘To implement Supreme Court orders to seal the properties utilised against their land use norms, a team of officers identified 32 properties in Sector 27 which were being used for commercial activity. As the property owners came to know of the action, they sought to hide their activities by erecting brick wall on 17 properties.

‘Four properties containing eight shops were sealed while three banks and nursing homes, violating land use, were left operational,’ said Rajesh Prakash, the administrative officer of the authority.

The drive was carried after the Supreme Court Dec 5, 2011 ordered a stop the commercial activities being carried in residential buildings.
