Chennai, Aug 31 (Inditop.com) The city-based Shriram EPC, an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, has decided to make material handling equipment in partnership with an American company, said a top company official here Monday.
“We have been building the material handling systems ourselves for turnkey contracts executed by us. We now intend to get into this business seriously,” Shriram managing director T. Shivaraman told reporters on the sidelines of the company shareholder’s meeting.
According to him, his company, along with an American outfit, has been bidding for material handling projects in India.
Additionaly, Shivaraman said, Shriram EPC would also get into the business of setting up cooling towers for power plants as one of its subsidiaries makes these towers.
The company’s EPC order book position is Rs.1,600 crore.
Meanwhile, subsidiary company Orient Green Power is looking out for acquiring wind energy farms in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
“Orient Green will refurbish the wind mills and own the farm. We currently have 98.5 MW wind power and the target is to increase that to 200 MW,” Shivaraman said.
