New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) The V.K. Shunglu committee, probing financial irregularities in the Commonwealth Games, Monday submitted an interim report on alleged irregularities in awarding of broadcasting rights during the Oct 3-14 Games held last year.

The panel submitted the interim report to the Prime Minister’s Office, official sources said.

The PMO has extended the term of the panel till March 31.

The committee was set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the Games and asked to submit its report within three months.

Shunglu, a former Comptroller and Auditor General, was not available for comments.

The committee was asked to fix responsibility of the main actors, political as well as those holding positions in the Games Organising Committee, for alleged corruption and mismanagement.

It has been asked to examine weaknesses in management, alleged misappropriation, irregularities, wasteful expenditure and wrongdoing in the conduct of the Oct 3-14 Games and also to recommend action.
