New Delhi, May 31 (IANS) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday described the opposition called ‘Bharat Bandh’ – a nation-wide shutdown – over petrol price hike in Delhi as total failure.
The shutdown called by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Left parties failed to evoke any response here, Dikshit said, speaking in the Delhi assembly.
She accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of forcibly blocking roads to create inconvenience to people and also thanked the Delhi residents for “not supporting” the shutdown.
“I spoke to senior police officials and they said only minor incidents have taken place,” Dikshit said in the assembly. She said most of the shops in the capital were open during the day.
