Mumbai, Jan 15 (Inditop.com) A benchmark index of Indian equities was trading on a tepid note about an hour before closing bell Friday, even as broader indices held on to their gains.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,604.31 points, was ruling at 17,574.1 points, around 2.23 p.m., down 12.64 points or 0.07 percent from its previous close at 17,584.87 points.
Around the same time, at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was at 5,256.35 points, against its previous close at 5,259.9 points, a loss of 0.07 percent.
Broader market indices were doing better, with the BSE midcap index up 0.63 percent and the BSE small cap index trading 0.88 percent higher.
The market breadth was positive, with as many as 1,575 stocks advancing, compared to 1,306 on the decline, and 74 remaining unchanged.
