New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) Budget carrier SpiceJet Friday launched another promotional fare scheme offering 30 percent discount on all domestic routes till Feb 2.

The new promotional scheme comes a week after the low cost carrier (LCC) launched a massive 50 percent discount scheme — that led to other airlines such as Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo and GoAir also offer the promotional fares.
The airline said that under its ‘Second Chance’ sale, passengers can avail 30 percent off on tickets booked from Jan 31-Feb 2 for travel till April 15, 2014.
“These offers are a win-win for customers and for the airlines, since it leads to significant demand stimulation, customers get discounted fares and airline reduces wastage of seats in the low season,” Sanjiv Kapoor, chief operating officer, SpiceJet said.
Under the new scheme, airfare between New Delhi and Mumbai will come down drastically and will stand at Rs.3,617 from its spot fare of around Rs.10,098.
“By selling some percentage inventory at discounted prices during lean season, airlines are in a better position to assess their bookings and load factor to plan for the holiday season,” said Vikram Malhi, general manager, south and southeast Asia, Expedia.
“Since, this is particularly a lean season for travel, airlines are offering such competitive prices to make sure that they have good load factors in March and early April,” said Sharat Dhall, president, Yatra.com.
