Chennai, May 4 (Inditop.com) Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL) will set up a precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) plant at its production unit near Karur with international collaboration that will help the paper-maker cut costs.
“The plant will be set up on build-own-operate (BOO) basis. This will result in TNPL reducing its recurring cost of Rs.25 crore,” Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin told the assembly Monday.
He said the state-run company was implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package at an outlay of Rs.12 crore. The ERP system will be operational by 2011.
Also, TNPL will raise pulpwood plantation by over 100,000 acres by 2012 to increase the availability of pulpwood. The scheme would provide more than 25,000 farmers an income of Rs.5,000 per acre every year, Stalin added.
